Landscapes of the Mind You’ve heard the story that the artistic mind is not good with the hard numbers of math. Painter Kevin Neal Gardner is proof that this may be another old wives’ tale. Monday through Friday he works as a consultant bookkeeper for organizations such as the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia. Like many artists, visual or literal, he can only spend the spare moments of his time working on his art. If you look at his work, you have to wonder what he daydreams about while he labors over spreadsheets and ledgers. Are his columns of numbers written in colors? Naples yellow, net sales; cadmium red, accounts payable; cobalt blue, ordinary income; Verona gold ochre, variance; and Mars black, totals. To see these pieces or more of his
work, go to his
webpage.
